Luis Ángel Vázquez
Born in México and raised in the U.S., Luis Ángel Vázquez is a bilingual intimacy coordinator based in Mexico City with an extensive background in casting and experience as an assistant director. He started working in film and TV in 2015 and was certified as an intimacy coordinator by IPA in 2023. As an IC, he works to achieve the director’s creative vision while facilitating communication with talent and assuring a safe and consent forward process. Luis Ángel strives to understand the unique tone of each project and achieving it in scenes of intimacy. Personally, he enjoys crafting a feeling of authenticity in scenes and has an interest in LGBTQIA+ representation. His most recent credits as an IC include "Temptation Island Mexico", "La Isla de las Tentaciones Argentina & Chile" and "La Venganza de los Ex VIP".
His work in casting stands out for being diverse and inclusive, and compliments his approach as an IC. Having done field work as a talent scouter taught him how to connect and work with people from varied backgrounds including but not limited to indigenous and migrant communities. He also has experience working in studio and international projects as well as with high profile talent and their teams. His credits in casting include “Bardo”, “Queer”, “Cassandro”, and “Prayers for the Stolen”. From his experience as an assistant director, Luis Ángel understands the time sensitive needs of a production, the importance of having clear communication through the corresponding line, and knows his way around a film set. His credits in the AD department include “Fear the Walking Dead”, “Miss Bala”, “La Hermandad” and “Belzebuth”.
Luis Ángel holds a BA in Audiovisual Media from UABC (Universidad Autónoma de Baja California) and is a dual citizen of México and the US.
