Cecily Smith

Cecily Smith (she/her) is an intimacy coordinator, intimacy director, a seasoned professional stage and screen actor, choreographer, and acting coach. As an intimacy professional, Cecily prides herself on her empathy, high-level communication, and her ability to advocate for the actors in scenes of nudity, adult content, simulated sex, and high emotional stakes. She works joyfully and cohesively with the director and the entire production crew to uphold the vision for the project. Her decades of work as an actor in film and theatre allow for a deep understanding of the actors’ needs in vulnerable moments. Cecily danced and choreographed professionally for over 20 years and uses her innate knowledge of movement and the human body to assist in masterfully creating the shape, shots, and story needs of the production. She is not afraid of uncomfortable conversations and is an excellent liaison between actors, directors, costumes, hair, make-up, and all production crew and staff.

In addition, Cecily holds a BFA in theatre performance from Miami University. She is a certified stage and film combatant and has extensive experience working with young actors, specifically as it relates to difficult subject matter. She has taught intimacy work in several university settings including University of Toronto, York University (Toronto), and Pomona College. She completed her intimacy coordinator training with Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC) and Intimacy Coordinators Canada (ICC). Her intimacy coordinator credits include working on shows for studios such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Lionsgate, Paramount, and several independent films.
