Chris Belcher
Chris (she/her) is an LA-based professor and writer who has nearly a decade of experience in professional BDSM and the sex workers’ rights movement. She holds a PhD in Literature and Gender Studies from USC, with an emphasis on race and sexuality in American culture. Her teaching focuses on identity, diversity, and LGBTQIA+ communities. How to Build A Hookers Army, her collection of stories from writers across myriad forms of sex work—from camgirls to escorts and strippers—is out soon from the Feminist Press. Chris is currently at work on her forthcoming memoir, Pretty Baby, which considers themes of coming out, gender identity, trauma, and violence, and is co-writing/developing a feature film that deals with polyamory and domestic abuse in the lesbian community. Her essays have appeared in Salon, Autostraddle, Kink Academy, Columbia Journal, Public Books, and them. Chris is available to consult on scripts and projects that deal with a range of topics, from sex work and kink/BDSM, to the queer community, LGBT history, and ethical non-monogamy.
