EVENT DESCRIPTION

So much of the work we do as IC’s employs an incredibly high level of communication skill since we often find ourselves in really difficult conversations with very powerful people. This class is an opportunity to hone the skills that have been covered in part one of this series, Introduction to Emotional Intelligence (taught by Rebecca Johannsen), and take it to the next level. You will build on that foundation with custom created scenarios drawn from the lived experience of professional intimacy coordinators in the film and TV industry. In this four hour class, all participants will have the chance to work in triads with other IC’s and take turns role-playing different scenarios as The Initiator/Problem Solver, The Respondent, and The Observer/Coach. We will review self-management techniques, new mindfulness practices, and the experiential design of practicing our skills, reflecting on what worked and what didn’t. You will then have an opportunity to have a “second chance” to replay the scenario for maximum learning effectiveness. This kind of practice in a supportive, low-stakes environment can make all the difference in your effectiveness in the highly charged situations you are counted on to navigate on set for the benefit of all those we work with in the industry. This class is designed for working IC’s who are looking for an opportunity to up-level their soft skills. This class will be taught by IPA-certified intimacy coordinator Christine McHugh and facilitated by IPA founder Amanda Blumenthal
